Avianca announced today that it’s adding service between Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG) this October 27th. The route is returning after a five-year hiatus with 7x weekly flights.
The Star Alliance carrier will begin these new flights from one of fellow member, United Airlines’ largest hubs. The route will be flown using Airbus A320 aircraft with 180 Economy Class seats. Avianca will offer 2,500 seats per week between the two cities when this route launches.
Rolando Damas, Avianca Airlines Sales Director for North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, said:
At Avianca, we continue to focus on providing more connectivity and access to new destinations around the world. Following our successful launches in Montreal and Paris earlier this year, we are thrilled to introduce the new Bogotá-Chicago route. This addition strengthens our network to include over 10 destinations across North America. This new route will allow more travelers to connect to the United States through our network and facilitate the arrival of new visitors to Colombia and the rest of our region. We are committed to delivering a refreshed travel experience that prioritizes safety, punctuality and reliable luggage handling.”
Chicago is the 13th North American city that Avianca will fly to this year. Other destinations include:
- Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
- Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
- Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
- Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
- Miami International Airport (MIA)
- New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
- Ontario International Airport (ONT)
- Orlando International Airport (MCO)
- San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
- Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Avianca offers a network of 150 routes that connect 75 destinations in 25 countries across the Americas and Europe.
Anthony’s Take: I have flown Avianca within Central America, but never to or from the United States. This Chicago flight is interesting. I just wish it had Business Class.
