Avelo Airlines is a low-cost carrier that launched in 2021. The airline operates a fleet of modern Boeing 737 aircraft and serves destinations across the United States. Avelo competes with Spirit Airways, Breeze Airways, Allegiant Air, Frontier Airlines, and Sun Country Airlines. Yesterday, I wrote about a trio of new flights (more here). But, Avelo added one more with new service between Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA) and Orlando International Airport (MCO).
The new route will commence on June 5th and run 2x weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays on a Boeing 737. This flight connects Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA) with one of Avelo’s five airport bases. Its other bases are located in Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), Wilmington Airport (ILG), and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).
Avelo Airlines Head of Commercial, Trevor Yealy, said:
We’re excited to provide summer flights between Central Wisconsin and Orlando,” said . “Whether enjoying a vacation or visiting friends and relatives, getting to Central Florida is easier than ever.”
There has been a lot of new and restarting routes announced recently for Avelo Airlines. It currently reaches more than 50 destinations across 27 states and Puerto Rico.
Anthony’s Take: Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA) is served by American, Avelo, and Delta. This new route will time well for kids on summer vacation looking to head to the theme parks in Orlando.

This isn’t really all that new a route. Avelo had this route from CWA even last year on one or two day during some weeks. I noticed it when trying to book some trips around hunting season in the area.
I am a regular to the airport and got some of my Presidential inauguration tickets from the Congressman from the area before the District area went Trump-y.
Delta has cut DTW to CWA but sort of maintained MSP to CWA. United exited ORD to CWA while American came back to CWA and has ramped up service again to what American used to have before. For a period of time, CWA had AA and UA doing ORD-CWA while DL was having both DTW-CWA and MSP-CWA. Unfortunately, it’s down to two daily common carriers even as the airport management at CWA has done its best to try to attract other airlines and managed to pull in Avelo to try out a route. The prices for the short-haul segments are ridiculously high out of and into CWA, but fortunately AA mileage tickets are still reasonably priced for CWA. Can’t say the same for DL flights for CWA. Avelo had cheaply priced tickets out of CWA last year for flights in 2023, so even I was considering them despite my preference for legacy major airlines and frequent flyer programs.
They are pausing service for one month (May). This is a resumption of a current route… actually they have a flight departing for CWA this afternoon.
