In June, I wrote about how Alaska Airlines was adding its first European nonstop route with seasonal flights to Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) beginning in May 2026. The new flights were set to run 4x weekly using Boeing 787-9 aircraft with 34 First Class and 266 Main Cabin seats. Alaska says that it’s seeing strong demand and has increased flights to daily for the seasonal route.
Alaska will be the only airline offering nonstop daily service between the two cities to provide travelers with a convenient connection between the Pacific Northwest and one of Europe’s most iconic destinations.

To celebrate the launch, Alaska Airlines is offering introductory roundtrip fares to Rome starting at $599. The new route complements Alaska’s growing portfolio of long-haul destinations from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), including its upcoming daily, year-round service to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) (also launching next spring).
Additionally, Alaska Mileage Plan members with Atmos Titanium status will soon enjoy a new elite benefit: complimentary upgrades on all intercontinental routes at the time of departure (pending availability). This feature will make Alaska Airlines the only major loyalty program to provide such upgrades without requiring certificates or points. This should give Alaska frequent flyers motivation to push for Titanium status as this benefit is unheard of with US carriers.
Chief Commercial Officer at Alaska Airlines, said:
With our nonstop service from Seattle to Rome and London, we’re opening the door to two of the world’s most iconic regions with the style and care our guests expect from us. These new routes mark a tremendous step in our global expansion and reflect our commitment to delivering a premium international experience from Seattle. We’re elated to connect the Pacific Northwest to more of the world.”
Anthony’s Take: It’s exciting to see Alaska begin to fly to Europe. The addition of Rome strengthens Alaska’s commitment to expanding its global network from Seattle.
