Alaska Airlines began serving Dallas Love Field (DAL) after it acquired Virgin America and folded its operations into Alaska’s route network (this acquisition and consolidation of operations occurred between 2016 and 2018). There used to be a host of flights to destinations around the country. These got whittled down to just flights to/from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and now it looks like that final route is hitting the chopping block.
Alaska Airlines appears to be leaving Dallas Love Field (DAL).
The airline’s remaining route, Seattle (SEA) to DAL, has been removed after May 14.

Southwest’s dominance at the airport has made it difficult for Alaska or other carriers to have a real presence at Dallas Love Field (DAL). This coupled with oneworld® partner, American Airlines, running a mega-hub at nearby Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) likely led to the decision to abandon Dallas Love Field (DAL).
When it was running a full slate of flights, Alaska used to offer service to/from Dallas Love Field (DAL) and:
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
- New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
- Portland International Airport (PDX)
- Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
- San Diego International Airport (SAN)
- San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
- San José Mineta International Airport (SJC)
- Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
With this departure, Southwest pretty much owns the airport as Delta Air Lines offers only a few flights to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). American Airlines, Frontier, Spirit Airlines, and United Airlines do not fly there.
Anthony’s Take: The Airlines at DAL page is looking a little sad with just three listed and Alaska about to be pulled. Many prefer Dallas Love Field (DAL) due to its location and smaller size, but if they’re not Southwest flyers or headed to Atlanta they might be out of luck.
