Alaska Airlines announced today that it’s beginning daily, seasonal service between Portland International Airport (PDX) and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). The flights to The Big Easy start on January 6th and run through May 14th
New Orleans will be Alaska’s 55th nonstop destination from Portland International Airport (PDX). The daily flight will depart in the morning for guests to enjoy an afternoon and return to Portland in the evening. Big events like the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras will fall within the window for these seasonal flights. Tickets are on sale on June 19th. This new route comes on the heels of new flights to Nashville International Airport (BNA) this summer and service to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), which launches in October.
Kirsten Amrine, Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning for Alaska Airlines, said:
As the largest carrier in Portland for more than 20 years, it’s important we continue to expand the nonstop destinations we offer our guests and give them choices when planning their next trip. We can’t wait to offer another convenient way to connect our guests along the West Coast to New Orleans, a city rich in history and culture.”
Anthony’s Take: New Orleans is a great city to party, dine, and explore. It’s great that Alaska is making it easier for passengers in the Pacific Northwest to let the good times roll.
