Capital One has opened its own lounges over the past few years. It first launched at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) (full review here) and then opened lounges in Denver International Airport (DEN) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) with plans to operate lounges at Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK). In addition to these traditional lounges, Capital One is introducing what it calls “Landings.” These will be dining concepts and they were first unveiled in October 2022. The first Capital One Landing opened today at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).
Capital One Landings have been developed in partnership with world-renowned chef and humanitarian José Andrés and the José Andrés Group. They will be run by Plaza Premium Group and will offer five-star dining with Spanish tapas and other imaginative fare.
The Capital One Landing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is 5,483 square feet and located post-security in the airport’s Terminal 2 (at the intersection of National Hall and Concourse D). This is accessible from Concourses B, C, D, and E as they are connected airside. It’s open daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
The to-go area that’s known as “On the Fly” is open daily from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, snacks, and drinks for sale and open for anyone to purchase them. If you have the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or the Capital One Venture X Business card you’ll get 50% off all purchases.
Unlike most lounges, you are assigned a specific table in the Capital One Landing. From there, you can order tapas and beverages through a QR code on the table. There is seating for 90 guests with power outlets at every seat and Wi-Fi throughout.
Access
Access to the Capital One Landings is similar to the lounges except for the guest policy. Capital One has stated that Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Venture X Business primary cardholders will have unlimited access. They can also enjoy complimentary entry for two guests per visit to the Capital One Lounges, but only one guest in the Landings (it costs $45 per visit for additional guests). Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Spark Miles for Business cardholders receive two complimentary visits in their account per calendar year (additional visits can be purchased for $45) to use by December 31, 2024. Effective January 1, 2025, they will no longer offer access. All other cardholders and non-customers can enter for $90. Children under age two can enter for free with a supervising parent or guardian. Access to all amenities is included with lounge entry.
Reservations are offered for the Capital One Landing between one day and six months ahead of a visit. There is a 15-minute grace period for reservations and you may make as many as you like without a cancellation penalty.
Anthony’s Take: I can’t wait to check out the Capital One Landing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). I might just have to fly there to check it out.
