Video shows the left-hand winglet assembly of Air Europa’s Boeing 737-800 embedded in the starboard horizontal stabilizer assembly of Condor’s Boeing 757-300. Both aircraft suffered structural damage as a result of the accident. The Condor aircraft was scheduled to fly to Frankfurt Am Main International Airport (FRA) and the Air Europa plane was headed back to Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN). Both aircraft were taken out of service. The Civil Aviation Accident and Incident Investigation Commission (CIAIAC) will investigate the accident.
Anthony’s Take: It only take a split second for an accident to occur. Luckily, no one was injured in this accident and the aircraft will be inspected and repaired before returning to service.
