WestJet has released the first major portion of its summer 2026 schedule and it marks one of the most expansive network announcements in the airline’s history. The update introduces new international routes from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and three new transatlantic destinations from Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ). The carrier continues to position itself for growth supported by its expanding fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

Toronto Gains New Global Connections

The big news is WestJet’s first-ever nonstop flight to South America. Beginning summer 2026, Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) will gain direct service to Medellín’s José María Córdova International Airport (MDE).

In addition to Medellín, WestJet will launch service from Toronto to Cardiff Airport (CWL) and John Paul II Ponta Delgada Airport (PDL) in the Azores. The airline will also restore its seasonal route to Glasgow Airport (GLA). These additions strengthen Toronto’s position as a major global gateway and give travelers new access to destinations that have been historically underserved from Canada.

Halifax Strengthened With Four More Routes

WestJet is deepening its commitment to Atlantic Canada with four new seasonal routes launching from Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ). The 2026 schedule introduces nonstop connections to:

  • Copenhagen Airport (CPH)
  • Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW)
  • Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS)
  • Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD)

These additions expand transatlantic options on the East Coast and reinforce WestJet’s long-term plan for balanced growth across the country. This is in addition to the new nonstop service between Edmonton International Airport (YEG) and Keflavík Airport (KEF) that will launch in summer 2026.

Year-Round Sun and Leisure Travel Expansion

To support growing demand for warm-weather and leisure travel, WestJet will extend several of its key seasonal sun routes to year-round service. Cities benefiting from the extended service include:

  • Calgary International Airport (YYC)
  • Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL)
  • Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB)
  • Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
  • Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG)

Customers will be able to book expanded vacation offerings through WestJet Vacations and Sunwing Vacations.

The newly announced destinations reflect WestJet’s strategy of connecting Canadians to broader global markets while expanding opportunities for tourism, trade, and community ties. With more additions still to come, the summer 2026 schedule signals a big step forward in the airline’s international growth.
