Airline Travel Waivers Issued As Hurricane Milton Set to Make Landfall In Florida

Hurricane Helene just hit the Sunshine State and now residents and travelers are bracing for Hurricane Milton, which is expected to make landfall in Florida this week. The Category 3 storm is expected to hit Tampa, FL. In response, airlines have already started issuing travel waivers.

Alaska Airlines

Passengers on Alaska Airlines have not yet been issued a travel waiver. This link will have updates as they occur.

AA Milton

American Airlines

Passengers on flights scheduled to fly to or from the following airports from October 8th to October 10th may rebook or cancel for free. These include:

  • Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB)
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
  • Fort Myers’ Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW)
  • Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV)
  • Jacksonville International Airport (JAX)
  • Key West International Airport (EYW)
  • Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB)
  • Miami International Airport (MIA)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO)
  • Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ)
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA)
  • Palm Beach International Airport (PBI)

Travel must be rebooked by October 10th and completed by October 17th.

Breeze Airways

Breeze Airways has not issued a travel waiver, but flights may be cancelled for credit or rebooked.

DL Milton

Delta Air Lines

Delta passengers scheduled to fly between October 7th and October 8th may rebook their flights for free if they’re traveling to/from these airports:

  • Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB)
  • Fort Myers’ Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW)
  • Fort Myers, Florida (RSW)
  • Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV)
  • Key West International Airport (EYW)
  • Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO)
  • Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ)
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA)

Tickets must be reissued by the end of the day on October 12th, completed no later than October 12th, and within the same fare, class to avoid differences in fare.

Frontier Airlines

Frontier Airlines has not issued a waiver, but passengers can rebook without change fees. Fare differences may apply.

B6 Milton

JetBlue Airways

Passengers traveling on JetBlue on October 8th through October 10th are eligible to change or rebook their flights for free if they’re flying to/from these airports:

  • Fort Myers’ Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO)
  • Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ)
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA)

New travel must be before October 13th or customers can get a full refund to their original form of payment.

SW Milton

Southwest Airlines

Southwest passengers traveling from October 8th to October 10th may rebook travel or fly standby for free within 14 days of their original travel dates if they’re flying to/from these airports:

  • Fort Myers’ Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO)
  • Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ)
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA)

Travel must be between the same cities as originally scheduled. Customers who opt not to travel can request a refund for the unused portion of their ticket or save the credit for a future flight.

NK Milton

Spirit Airlines

Spirit Airlines passengers traveling to/from the list of cities below between October 7th and October 10th are eligible to rebook without penalty if they fly by October 17th.

  • Fort Myers’ Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO)
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA)

Fare differences will apply for travel after October 17th.

UA Milton

United Airlines

Travelers with United flights scheduled to/from the following airports before October 10th may rebook for free. These include:

  • Fort Myers’ Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW)
  • Key West International Airport (EYW)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO)
  • Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ)
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA)

United will waive the change fees and fare differences for travel completed by October 17th within the same cities and cabin as originally booked.

Anthony’s Take: It looks like this storm also has the potential to cause lots of damage and upend travel plans. Move your flights if you plan to travel and stay safe. This is not what Florida needs on the heels of Hurricane Helene.
