Delta Air Lines is suspending service between New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG) on October 26th. The airline cites lack of demand for the route as the reason for its cut to the schedule.

The flight is currently operated daily with a Boeing 757-200 aircraft with 20 First Class, 29 Comfort+, and 128 Main Cabin seats. Delta will continue to serve Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG) to/from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) up to 2x daily (also on a Boeing 757-200 aircraft).

Delta issued a statement around the route. It reads:

Delta will discontinue its nonstop service between New York (JFK) and Bogota (BOG), as we adjust our schedule to align with consumer demand. The final flight between New York and Bogota is scheduled for October 26, 2024.

Delta will continue to serve Bogota with twice daily flights from Atlanta. Additionally, customers can access Bogota through our joint venture partner LATAM, which offers twice daily service from Miami and daily service from Orlando.”

Bogota

Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG) also sees nonstop to the following US cities:

  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) (flown by Avianca)
  • Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) (flown by American Airlines)
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) (flown by Spirit Airlines)
  • Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) (flown by United Airlines)
  • Miami International Airport (MIA) (flown by American Airlines, Avianca, Emirates, and LATAM)
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) (flown by United Airlines)
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) (flown by Avianca)
  • Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) (flown by United Airlines)

Anthony’s Take: There are still a good number of nonstop flights between the United States and Bogotá. Demand is softening in many markets this fall/winter and I expect to see more adjustments.
