A Frontier Airlines flight from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) took off with one less passenger who was originally seated in the emergency exit row. A video captured while the plane was parked at the gate shows the passenger arguing with the flight attendants, reportedly calling her attorney, arguing with the captain, and then getting arrested.

The woman refused to vacate the exit row. When asked if she would help in the event of an emergency, she reportedly said: “Oh, I’m not going to save anybody. If something happens, I’m going to save myself.” This didn’t sit well with the flight crew (understandably) and she was asked to leave. She refused. Passengers shouted at her, the captain came to talk to her, and even with police on the plane she held her ground. The entire aircraft was eventually deplaned and the woman was arrested as passengers cheered from inside the airport.
When a flight crew decides that you are not flying for whatever reason, it’s best to deplane quietly. You’re not going to win and be able to fly. Chances are that the situation will escalate and you’ll end up in handcuffs versus your original destination.
Anthony’s Take: I don’t know why people can’t be polite, do what’s asked (within reason), and not create issues for other passengers. This woman hopefully learned a lesson and will think twice about her actions in the future.

As a frequent flyer, reading this blog post left me shaking my head in disbelief. I understand that sometimes we all get frustrated while traveling, but it’s crucial to follow the rules, especially when it comes to safety regulations like seating in the exit row. The woman’s refusal to comply with the flight attendants’ instructions was not only disruptive but also put everyone on board at risk. Her comment about not saving anyone in an emergency was shocking and justified her removal. Kudos to the flight crew for handling the situation, even if it meant deplaning everyone and getting the police involved.
