Message boards, Facebook, and Reddit have been flooded with concerned Marriott Bonvoy® elite members wondering why their Titanium or Ambassador status is showing as Platinum Premier in the app and on Marriott’s site. This has raised lots of concern, but the reason is fairly simple.

Platinum premier elite the new Ambassador?

Marriott is experiencing one of many IT glitches and some of those with Titanium or Ambassador status are now showing as Platinum Premier. This is a legacy status level that was replaced by Titanium when the Marriott Bonvoy® program was introduced in 2019. Marriott Rewards used to offer Platinum Premier for members who stayed over 75 nights and Platinum Premier with Ambassador for those who surpassed 100 nights and had more than $20,000 in spend annually. This was announced back in 2019. These went away with the new program. Marriott has told multiple folks who reached out that they do not need to worry and that the status they earned is still valid.

Anthony’s Take: There are no changes to the names of status levels in the Marriott Bonvoy® program. If you see your status level has changed, don’t worry. Marriott IT is going to straighten it out at some point.
