Canadian carrier, WestJet, is adding service between Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) in January. This new route will connect Kelowna with one of Delta’s hubs and offer onward connections through 24 codeshare flights.
Flights will begin operating 5x weekly on January 17th. This will shift to a daily service on February 17th. The route will be operated with a Bombardier Q400 aircraft with 10 Economy Plus and 68 Economy Class seats. Delta Air Lines and WestJet will codeshare on flights to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), Portland International Airport (PDX), San Diego International Airport (SAN), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and many other cities.
John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer, said:
As we continue to strengthen our service across Western Canada, we are proud to connect Kelowna with new daily WestJet service to Seattle as part of our expanded winter schedule. This route will provide guests in the Okanagan and across the Pacific Northwest regions with new convenient and affordable options to easily connect between both popular regions for business and leisure year-round.”
WestJet serves 12 destinations from Kelowna with up to 20 daily departures during peak winter travel season. When connecting onto a Delta operated flight, WestJet passengers with elite status will be granted access to the Delta Sky Club® in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (my review here).
Anthony’s Take: I flew WestJet back in December and enjoyed the experience (more here). Kelowna residents will have many more one-stop destinations to check out this winter.
