Back in June, WestJet and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) announced that the two carriers were entering into an interline agreement. Through this partnership, WestJet passengers would be able to book a single ticket from Canada to 29 destinations across Denmark, Sweden, and Norway including Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Luleå, and Malmö. Today, WestJet has announced it’s going a step further with a new reciprocal codeshare partnership with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) to create expanded transatlantic travel opportunities and delivering greater convenience for guests on both sides of the Atlantic. Passengers departing Calgary International Airport (YYC) on WestJet’s nonstop flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) can connect onward to some of SAS’ most in-demand destinations through a single booking and streamlined itinerary.

The agreement allows WestJet guests to easily access Copenhagen Airport (CPH), Oslo Airport (OSL), and Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) year-round via WestJet’s Paris and London routes. From these SAS hubs, travelers can will be able to book single-connection travel along with baggage transfers and the ability to earn WestJet Rewards on any WestJet-marketed itinerary operated by SAS. Beginning in 2026, WestJet travelers will gain additional access to these Scandinavian cities through several other transatlantic gateways.

WestJet’s code will also be added to SAS’ year-round service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Copenhagen Airport (CPH) to strengthening connectivity for travelers originating in Canada’s largest metropolitan region. New SAS codeshare itineraries are now available for booking through travel agents and at WestJet.com.

The partnership benefits Europe-based travelers as well. West-bound guests flying SAS to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) or through SAS gateways in major US airports such as Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) will have access to more than 10 WestJet-operated Canadian destinations. These include Calgary International Airport (YYC), Edmonton International Airport (YEG), Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ), Vancouver International Airport (YVR), and Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG).

Looking ahead, WestJet and SAS plan to deepen their relationship with the introduction of codeshare service on WestJet’s new seasonal Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) to/from Copenhagen Airport (CPH) route. Announced last month and launching in May 2026, the flights will connect the two cities for the first time. The upcoming codeshare integration will offer improved connectivity beyond Copenhagen while welcoming travelers from across Europe to discover Atlantic Canada and the natural beauty of Nova Scotia.

With this enhanced partnership, both carriers strengthen their transatlantic networks and offer travelers more destinations, smoother connections, as well as expanded loyalty benefits across Canada, Scandinavia, and Europe.

John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer, said:

Deepening our commercial connection with SAS means more seamless connections for guests on both sides of the ocean. With more Canadians wanting to explore Northern Europe, we are proud to help them get there with ease, so they can focus on the destination. We are proud to partner with a world-class airline like SAS and look forward to introducing more connectivity between our two unique networks in 2026.”

Paul Verhagen, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer at SAS, added:

The expanded codeshare partnership with WestJet is an important step in connecting Scandinavia even more closely with Canada. It strengthens our main base in Copenhagen and gives travelers on both sides of the Atlantic more options and a smoother overall journey. This agreement broadens our joint offering and creates new opportunities for customers across our combined networks.”

WestJet has been busy launching codeshare interline agreements with several SkyTeam carriers over the pas few years, including Virgin Atlantic and Delta Air Lines.

Anthony’s Take: Further strengthening its relationship with SAS makes sense given how close the airline is with other SkyTeam partners.
