WestJet has been adding lots of interline and codeshare agreements recently. Earlier this month, WestJet and SAS entered into an interline agreement and last month it strengthened its codeshare with Air France-KLM. It seems like it’s only a matter of time before WestJet enters SkyTeam considering all of the arrangements recently signed and the 25% stake that Delta and Korean Air took in the Canadian carrier. This week, WestJet and Saudia announced an interline agreement with more than 100 destinations now able to be booked on one ticket.

The latest agreement includes single-connection access to Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) as well as both Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) and Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport (RUH) from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). Passengers can now book one ticket with both WestJet and Saudia flights, a single point check-in, and through-checked bags.

WestJet and Saudia

John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer, said:

An interline partnership with Saudia marks a major step forward in expanding global connectivity for our guests. This agreement not only provides WestJet guests with seamless single-connection access to Saudia’s extensive global network but also strengthens inbound tourism and business links. Together, WestJet and Saudia are creating more convenient and diverse travel options for guests on both sides, fostering stronger connections and collaboration across continents.”

Arved von zur Muehlen, Chief Commercial Officer at Saudia, added:

We value the partnership with WestJet, it reflects Saudia’s commitment to offer our guests more destinations through key international gateways. Canada is now closer than ever, and we are also offering a seamless journey for travelers from Canada to explore Saudi Arabia and experience its unique culture, heritage, and hospitality.”

Anthony’s Take: WestJet now has some form of partnership with Aeromexico, Air France-KLM, Delta Air Lines, Korean Air, SAS, Saudia, Virgin Atlantic, and others. So many are in SkyTeam that it seems like the Canadian carrier will join the airline alliance at some point.
