W Hotels unveiled a new chapter in its evolution with the opening of W Punta Cana, Adult All-Inclusive. The resort was developed in partnership with Grupo Puntacana and MAC Hotels. The property’s debut marks a milestone as this is the brand’s first adult all-inclusive resort worldwide. I am not a fan of traditional all-inclusive resorts as they are generally vacation factories with poor food, drunken tourists, and no culture. This resort skews a bit higher end and I like how the food and beverage program is described. You’ll still find me choosing the St. Regis Cap Cana Resort when I go to the Dominican Republic in November (although I do like that it’s adults only and children are forbidden), but this resort looks pretty solid.
The W Punta Cana reimagines the adults-only, all-inclusive segment with the energy of W Hotels along with the beauty of Punta Cana’s beaches. The resort features 340 expansive guest rooms and suites, each starting at 700 square feet and outfitted with king-size beds (a unique offering on the island). Select suites feature private swim-up pools. Oasis Mega Suites offer full-sized private pools complemented by 24-hour in-room dining and a curated maxi bar.
The resort’s communal design creates the feel of a village with lively social hubs and quiet spaces for privacy. Guests can enjoy a 400-meter beachfront, the signature WET Deck with an 80-meter infinity pool, or the Chill Pool with a swim-up bar and laid-back ambiance. For groups, W Punta Cana offers 14,000 square feet of flexible event space (including a 5,380-square-foot ballroom, six breakout rooms, and an indoor flex space).
The W Punta Cana offers 12 distinct restaurants, bars, and lounges, including:
- Trade Market: An interactive food hall that features global street food and live-action stations.
- Scena: A chef-driven concept that reinterprets Caribbean and Dominican flavors in an elegant setting.
- Noodle Bar: This spot serves Pan-Asian street fare.
- Sensazioni: A versatile bar and events theater.
- Taproom: A modern microbrewery and beer hall.
- Taman Beach Club: A social hub shifting from daytime relaxation to nightlife.
- Living Room Bar: The W signature space features Dominican-inspired cocktails with local infusions.
- 33 1/3 Speakeasy: An intimate vinyl-inspired bar driven by mixology.
Entertainment is curated with a local-global fusion. Music Director Sinego, working with Dominican electronic collective Chinese Laundry, delivers a lineup ranging from high-energy DJ-led parties and rooftop sessions to innovative concepts like sound baths, silent discos, and vinyl libraries.
Wellness is equally prioritized through the AWAY Spa, which includes 10 treatment rooms, a Himalayan salt room, sauna, steam room, and an indoor pool. Treatments draw on local healing traditions and ingredients like turmeric, arnica, and moringa seed oil. Guests can also enjoy the 24-hour FIT Gym, sunrise yoga, and other outdoor rituals.
Created by Spain-based Zanobia Arquitectura, the resort’s design integrates sustainability and local heritage with W’s signature bold aesthetic. It’s inspired by Dominican history and natural beauty with interiors featuring Caribbean color palettes, motifs drawn from larimar stone, and textures reflecting colonial architecture and tobacco plantations. Endemic plants are the highlights of the landscaped grounds.
The opening of W Punta Cana signals W Hotels’ entry into the adult all-inclusive space and reinforces the brand’s commitment to delivering bold, experience-driven hospitality. This debut will be followed by two additional all-inclusive properties in Corasol Playa del Carmen (2028) and Costa Mujeres (2029). Both will further strengthen W Hotels’ presence in the Caribbean and Latin America.
George Fleck, Senior Vice President and Brand Leader at W Hotels, said:
W Punta Cana marks a bold and exciting evolution for W Hotels as the brand enters the all-inclusive space with the same tuned-in spirit and magnetic energy that defines the brand. This isn’t just another resort – it’s the brand reimagining the concept entirely, where everything from elevated dining to immersive experiences reserved for adults only are thoughtfully curated and included. Set against the stunning natural backdrop of Punta Cana’s pristine beaches and lush landscape, this destination is the perfect location for the brand to debut its first-ever all-inclusive. W Punta Cana is turning the traditional model on its head – delivering luxury through detail-driven design, exceptional service, and story-worthy experiences that immerse guests in local culture through the lens of W Hotels. Guests will now find all the things they love about the brand – insider access, a dynamic atmosphere, the unmistakable sound, and vibrant design – now seamlessly woven into this new experience. This resort is a statement that all-inclusive can be anything but expected. It’s about creating stories worth sharing by living in the moment and embracing the now – in true W Hotels style.”
Rates start at $594 per night when paying cash or a whopping 167,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points if you’re looking for an award night.
Anthony’s Take: I’m intrigued, but still will likely stay away from all-inclusive resorts (high end or not). This is a nice addition for the crowd that wants to party on the beach at night and relax throughout the day.
