W Hotels has been making some news lately with the recent opening of the W Las Vegas and other locations coming soon. The W São Paulo just opened as the first under the brand umbrella in Brazil.

The W São Paulo is located in a modern skyscraper in São Paulo’s southern business district. It offers views of both the Pinheiros River and the city skyline. The hotel has 179 rooms including 16 suites that start on the building’s 25th floor.

As with all W Hotels, this one offers the standard AWAY Spa, FIT gym, WET Deck (with an outdoor pool), along with two restaurants (L40 Cozinha de Latitude is located on the 40th floor and serves global cuisine while Baio Cozinha Sulista dishes up Southern Brazilian food on the 23rd floor), three bars, and five event spaces.

W São Paulo is a “fusion of contemporary design and local authenticity.” The hotel is built on the site of the iconic Teatro Via Funchal and the hotel’s design is a collaboration between Aflalo/Gasperini Arquitetos, with landscaping from Benedito Abbud, and interiors by Nini de Andrade Silva. The W São Paulo showcases Brazilian modernist architecture with “angular lines, sinuous curves, and a vivid color palette with various shades of greens, blues, metallics, and golden tones. With unique design pieces, rich textures, and organic materials like Brazilian stone and wood.”

Idu Ribeiro, General Manager of the W São Paulo, said:

W São Paulo was thoughtfully conceived from the ground up, tailor-made for the vibrant energy of this spirited metropolis. We are committed to curating innovative experiences that align with the pulse of the city, seamlessly integrating local culture, music, gastronomy, and wellness into our offerings. All of this is complemented by our signature Whatever/Whenever service, which remains a hallmark of W Hotels.”

Redemptions with Marriott Bonvoy® points range between 30,000 and 50,000 points per night. Marriott no longer has award charts and rates fluctuate nightly. Cash rates are generally between $409 and $557 per night.

Anthony’s Take: I am a fan of the W brand and have never been to Brazil (it’s a glaring omission in my travel map and one that needs to be remedied). The new W São Paulo looks gorgeous and is taking on more of the W’s modern, more grown up look.
