The W Rome opened in Italy in December 2021 (I’ll be staying there this weekend). This week, Italy’s second location, the W Florence officially opened (a third: the W Sardinia — Poltu Quatu will open later this summer). The hotel is located in the Piazza dell’Unitá Italiana by the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella. It offers a great location for tourists looking to explore this romantic Italian city filled with art and culture.

W Florence 1

The property originally planned to open in March, but that date slipped. Its room design looks modern and elegant with the design principles employed at other new and refreshed W Hotels seen here. Say goodbye to the 90s club feel and hello to a space you want to relax in.

W Florence 2

The W Florence offers 119 rooms including 16 suites and a penthouse. Amenities are rather limited for a W Hotel, but include a fitness center, meeting space, and several on-site restaurants including Akira Back, which is described as “a dynamic celebration of Korean cuisine’s evolution” (opening later this summer), a contemporary Italian restaurant called Tratto, and Zefiro Rooftop (also set to open later this summer).

George Fleck, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader for W Hotels, said:

The opening of W Florence marks another significant milestone in W Hotels journey, deepening our presence in Italy and strengthening our footprint across the region. As we continue to evolve globally, this latest addition to our brand embodies our commitment to delivering bold, immersive experiences that redefine luxury lifestyle hospitality. W Hotels has always been a brand rooted in creativity and culture, and W Florence perfectly captures the spirit of this dynamic, fashion-forward city.”

Cash rates start range from  €418 to €722 with Marriott Bonvoy® point redemptions coming up between 70,000 and 121,000 per night for a standard room.

Anthony’s Take: The W Florence looks gorgeous and I hope to make it there to check it out. I’ll be staying at the W Rome this weekend and will be reviewing the hotel in the near future.
