Viva Aerobus is a Mexican low-cost airline headquartered at Monterrey International Airport (MTY). It currently serves 15 US destinations and is adding four new routes from Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla Guadalajara International Airport (GDL).

The four new routes all begin on December 4th and directly compete with another Mexican low-cost carrier, Volaris. These routes include:

  • Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
  • Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
  • San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK)
  • San Antonio International Airport (SAT)

Anthony’s Take: With Mexico returning to a Category 1 safety rating by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) back in September, we’ve seen some new routes pop up and I expect more will continue to be added by Viva Aerobus, Aeromexico, and Volaris.
