Virgin Atlantic CEO Shai Weiss was quoted saying that the carrier will be introducing two new routes at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) annual conference, which is being held in Istanbul.

While the routes are still a mystery, speculation is that one of them will be from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN). This route has not officially been announced, but it’s showing up on the summer 2024 schedule, which begins in late March. The new route is part of a deal with Korean Air to help the South Korean airline get approval to merge with Star Alliance member and rival carrier, Asiana Airlines.

No clues were given about the other route other than Weiss saying that the two routes would go to different continents. This route will be in addition to the service from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Dubai International Airport (DXB), Manchester Airport (MAN) to Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), as well as several fifth-freedom routes between Caribbean islands that were announced this week (more here).

Anthony’s Take: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) annual conference began today. We should get the full story soon. Any guesses as to what the second route will be here?
