Virgin Atlantic will launch a new seasonal flight to Cancún International Airport (CUN) from London Heathrow Airport (LHR). The 3x weekly service will begin on October 19th.

This route will be operated by an Airbus A350-1000 aircraft with 44 Upper Class, 56 Premium Economy, and 235 Economy Class seats. Virgin will see some competition on this route as British Airways also flies here from London Gatwick Airport (LGW). SkyTeam partner Aeromexico and codeshare partner LATAM will provide tons of onward connections throughout Mexico and South America.

Virgin Upper Class

Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class passengers have access to The Booth on board this aircraft. The Booth extends the airline’s Clubhouse experience to the skies and offers a range of cocktails, a dining option, and a wine tasting in a social setting. Upper Class passengers will enjoy suites with 44 inches of pitch and a fully flat bed that measures up to 82 inches.

Juha Jarvinen, Chief Commercial Offer at Virgin Atlantic, said:

We’re delighted to be returning to Cancun, offering customers a new destination for some winter sun. Cancun has an amazing nightlife and dining scene, dreamy sandy beaches, plus it’s the perfect gateway to Mayan ruins and adventure travel in the region. Our new route also offers increased connectivity to the region with our codeshare partner LATAM and SkyTeam partner Aeromexico. We can’t wait for more of our customers to enjoy Virgin Atlantic’s trademark fiesta and flair, on their way to Mexico.”

Anthony’s Take: Virgin Atlantic has added several new routes this year and into next including King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh, Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra, and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Cancun is a nice summer escape for Brits looking to avoid the cold UK weather in the winter.
