United Airlines announced today that it will be resuming service between both Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) on November 1st and 2nd, respectively.
United Airlines resumed flights from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) as of the week of June 5th. It uses Boeing 787-10 aircraft for this route. These offer 44 Polaris® (Business Class), 21 Premium Plus, and 253 Economy Class seats. El Al and Delta Air Lines are also flying to/from the New York City area. When United starts its 4x and 3x weekly flights in November, it will be the only US carrier flying to Israel from other parts of the United States.
After the terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, US airlines began suspending service to Tel Aviv. United tried to bring flights back in 2024, but these were again suspended as the conflict continued. Dates for resumption have kept getting pushed by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines since then. United thought that February, March, or April would be the time, but those dates were also pushed. It tried to restart on May 3rd and then quickly paused again. June has so far stuck for Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and now it looks like customers will have choices again. The only route that United formerly flew that does not yet have a scheduled return is its service to/from San Francisco International Airport (SFO).
Patrick Quayle, United’s Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances, said:
The resumption of these flights underscores United’s longstanding commitment to Tel Aviv.”
Anthony’s Take: It’s good to see United resume additional flights and offer service from both Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) this fall.
