United Airlines flight UA762 from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) saw quite the spectacle on Tuesday when an enraged female passenger flipped out and had to be restrained with zip ties. Without hands to continue her attack on the crew who held her back, she bit a flight attendant’s shoulder and ripped a piece of his uniform off.

TMZ reports that the woman screams profanities at other passengers, threatens to kill one, and tells another to “go back to Russia.” She also allegedly spit in another passenger’s face and made reference to her Scarface t-shirt in an attempt to intimidate others.
The aircraft was forced to divert to Orlando International Airport (MCO) where law enforcement met the aircraft and removed the woman. She was brought to a local hospital for evaluation and no arrest had been made at the time. The flight was delayed 3.5 hours while the crew was swapped out on the Boeing 737-900ER.
United released this statement:
Our flight attendants worked to de-escalate the situation and protect other customers and after landing in Orlando, law enforcement met the flight, and the passenger was removed. We’re grateful to our team for their professionalism and for looking out for the safety of our customers and their fellow United employees.”
Anthony’s Take: I’m not a fan of most of the meals United serves on its flights, but I’ve never felt the need to take a bite out of the crew. Hopefully, this woman gets the help she needs. Kudos to the flight attendants for handling this situation well.
