Naomi Osaka is a top-ranked Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) player. She is playing in the Cincinnati Open this coming week and flew United Airlines to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) yesterday. She arrived fine, but her bags (containing her tennis rackets that she needed for the tournament) did not make it.
lol @united lost my bags and if I don’t get them tonight or tomorrow I literally can’t play Cinncinati 😂😂😂

The four-time Grand Slam champion notified United via X and luckily for her, the airline was able to locate them today (the tournament begins tomorrow). I’m guessing this had something to do with her celebrity and 1.1 million X followers.
update : I received my bags 🙏🏾

Osaka updated X with the resolution to her situation, but no word on where the bags actually went. Osaka recently lost in the women’s singles first round of the Paris Olympics to Germany’s Angelique Kerber. Hopefully, her luck improves with this tournament. Of the major US carriers, United is the second worst with baggage handling and loss. American Airlines has it beat, with one in 100 bags mishandled.
Anthony’s Take: Airlines lose bags all the time and this situation proves that it’s not just the everyday Joe that runs the risk. I never check bags and advise everyone to pack light and take it with you for best results.
