United Airlines issued a ground stop this evening at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Denver International Airport (DEN), Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and other airports across the country. George Bush Intercontinental Airport. A “technology issue” prompted United to request the ground stop and hold departures around 5:12 PM CT with them resuming around 9:00 PM CT.

All mainline flights had been held at their departure airports as United worked to resolve the issue with the airline’s weight & balance system. This issue has thankfully been resolved and United is working to normalize its operations. It looks like 1,071 United flights were delayed and 67 were canceled.

Anthony’s Take: I’m glad that I wasn’t flying this evening and hope everyone that was gets where they’re headed. It’s going to be a long night for United ground staff across the country.
