United Express flight UA5469 from Denver International Airport (DEN) to Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) diverted to St. George Regional Airport (SGU) on January 2nd after a small fire was detected in a window housing. It’s unknown what caused the fire and I have honestly never seen anything like this before.

The video was posted on TikTok by @anderson_teaches_4th and shows the small flame flickering within the window housing. Thankfully, the aircraft was able to divert and deplane without any injuries reported.

UA5469 Flight Status

The flight was operated Embraer E175 aircraft operated by SkyWest. That plane has been taken out of service and another was sent to get the passengers to Palm Springs International Airport (PSP).

Anthony’s Take: It’s so odd to see a window on fire. I’d love to know what caused this and am relieved that everyone arrived safely. It seems odd to me that part of a window would just be aflame.

That’s a heck of a “take.”
