United Airlines and Instacart have launched a first-of-its-kind partnership to give United MileagePlus® members new ways to save time and earn rewards through everyday grocery delivery. The collaboration allows MileagePlus® members to enjoy $0 delivery fees on Instacart orders placed before, during, or shortly after a domestic United flight. This makes it easier to grab forgotten essentials, stock up at a vacation rental, or have groceries waiting at home after a trip.

Through this new partnership, MileagePlus® members can activate the $0 delivery fee offer after booking a domestic United flight, valid for seven days. The feature makes grocery delivery more seamless for travelers who want to simplify life on the move. The collaboration also introduces new opportunities to earn MileagePlus® miles through Instacart purchases. These include:

  • New Instacart users can earn 5,000 bonus miles after completing four grocery orders of $35 or more within eight weeks.
  • Existing Instacart users earn 500 bonus miles after linking their MileagePlus® and Instacart accounts and placing an order of $35 or more within 60 days.
  • After completing the initial offer, members can earn an additional 5,000 miles by enrolling in a paid annual Instacart+ membership and maintaining it for at least 30 days.

These rewards enhance the growing number of perks available to United travelers through its partnerships. Earlier this year, United and Chase expanded co-branded credit card benefits to include Instacart offers. MileagePlus members can enroll and start earning rewards here.

Instacart is the leading online grocery marketplace in the United States and Canada. It connects consumers to nearly 100,000 stores across more than 1,800 retail partners. United’s MileagePlus® program continues to expand its reach beyond traditional travel rewards and is looking to offer new ways to make daily life more rewarding.

Richard Nunn, CEO of United MileagePlus®, said:

We’re always looking for new ways to make our loyalty program even more valuable for our members and the partners we choose go a long way towards making travel –and life—easier and more rewarding. This Instacart collaboration gives members the peace of mind to know they can add groceries and other essentials at just about any stage of their trip – from making sure that order is waiting for them when they check into their rental property to stocking up at home so they can hit the ground running when they return. All while earning miles along the way.”

Ryan Hamburger, Vice President of Commercial Partnerships at Instacart, added:

With Instacart, travelers can spend less time running errands and more time enjoying the journey and the destination – and now, United MileagePlus members can enjoy added benefits when they link their account to Instacart. We’re excited to make the convenience of Instacart – whether shopping at home or while traveling – even more rewarding for United MileagePlus members. This partnership solidifies Instacart’s position as a critical piece of the journey, ensuring our customers have everything they need, wherever they are.”

Anthony’s Take: I’ve never used Instacart (I love going to the supermarket), but I might sign up for the bonus miles.
