United and Adidas Unveil Limited-Edition Samba Sneaker to Celebrate 100th Anniversary

Earlier today, I wrote about a limited edition “Rhapsody in Flight” album that’s coming out tomorrow. Now, United Airlines is continuing to mark its centennial milestone with a new collaboration that blends aviation heritage with sneaker culture by partnering with adidas to release a limited-edition version of the iconic Samba. The special-edition shoe is designed as a tribute to the airline’s 100-year history while also celebrating the employees who have played a role in shaping its legacy.

The sneaker features adidas’ classic Samba silhouette (reimagined with details that reflect United’s brand identity. Signature United Blue accents run throughout the design. These are paired with custom striping and subtle nods to the airline’s visual heritage. On the heel, the left shoe showcases United’s globe logo while the right features a gold “100 years” mark to highlight the airline’s milestone anniversary.

Unlike traditional sneaker launches, this limited-edition release will be available exclusively to United employees through the airline’s internal United Shop. This is similar to the offering that Delta had for employees in partnership with Nike.

Mark Muren, Managing Director of Product Marketing and Brand at United Airlines, said:
