United flight UA2091 was ready to depart Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and head to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) when the left engine of the Airbus A320 caught fire and caused the pilots to abort the takeoff.
A United flight aborted takeoff from O’Hare after an engine caught fire.
Video from Ivan Paloalto shows smoke streaming from the wing of the plane.
“I felt the impact on my window. As I looked, the engine was on fire and smoke was coming out,” he said. https://t.co/j6tCUDy9JZ pic.twitter.com/c7Ajtgr4Sq

The wing is seen smoking in the video above as the aircraft was towed back to the gate. All 148 passengers and five crew on the aircraft were able to deplane without injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) briefly halted arrivals at O’Hare. Normal operations resumed shortly after the incident was cleared by emergency personnel.

Anthony’s Take: Another incident handled well by the pilots flying this aircraft. The cause of the engine fire has not been released, but luckily the takeoff was aborted and everyone is safe.

I’m not sure whether it’s better or worse that this is on an Airbus after the numerous Boeing incidents. Then again, between this and the Montego Bay incident, Airbus isn’t having a great week either.
Wow another AIR BUS incident, where is the leadership accountability?
