Earlier this week, Hyatt announced that two properties were being rebranded in the Big Easy. These two hotels will provide guests in New Orleans options close to Bourbon Street and the Caesars Superdome.
The Barnett (formerly the Ace Hotel New Orleans) and Maison Metier (formerly known as Maison de la Luz) are now joining World of Hyatt as part of Hyatt’s Independent Collection under The Unbound Collection by Hyatt and JdV by Hyatt brands this year. Hyatt describes its Independent Collection as “one-of-a-kind properties that are all singular in their brands and experiences – from storied hotels and vibrant neighborhood locales to immersive retreats. Each independently branded property enriches the modern traveler’s experience in unique and exciting ways.”
Maison Métier
This hotel is located in a 1908 building with the feel of a Parisian luxury guesthouse mixed with contemporary furnishings. There are 67 rooms and suites in this boutique property. The salon-style bar, formerly known as Bar Marilou, maintains its partnership with Paris-based Quixotic Projects to continue offering creative cocktails and dishes.
The Barnett
The Barnett pays homage to the building’s long history as Barnett’s Furniture Store, which was a local mom-and-pop fixture of the neighborhood. The hotel brings Art Deco and French Modernism influences to the Warehouse District and features a live music venue. The hotel’s dining options will also be reimagined with the exception of the Seaworthy restaurant, which will remain under the same brand and culinary leadership. The 234-room property will be rebranded from the Ace Hotel in the fall.
Mike Waddell, Senior Vice President of Global Franchise Operations at Hyatt, said:
Hyatt’s growth continues to be fueled by the leisure and lifestyle segment, and this brand expansion in the New Orleans market underscores Hyatt’s commitment to growing with intent in destinations that matter most to Hyatt guests and World of Hyatt members. Maison Métier and The Barnett highlight New Orleans’ vibrant culture, and we’re excited to expand our brand presence in this world-renowned city with these two remarkable hotels that are purposefully crafted to be a place of discovery and joy through food and beverage, art, music and beyond.”
Anthony’s Take: New Orleans is a great city, but I have not been in love with the Hyatt or Marriott options in some time. These hotels both look charming and I’d love to check out both in the future.
