The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) broke records yesterday when it screened more than three million passengers across the United States. US airlines are expected to transport more than 271 million passengers worldwide this summer. That’s a staggering number.

The TSA had just broken past records earlier this month (after having some immensely busy days in June). Will the end of the July 4th holiday weekend be the busiest this summer or are people going to break it again?

Airlines for America (A4A) President and CEO, Nicholas E. Calio, said:

We greatly appreciate the leadership of Administrator David Pekoske and TSA’s 40,000 dedicated men and women who work to keep our skies and airports safe and secure. U.S. airlines are excited to fly a record number of travelers to destinations around the world this summer, and our critical partnership with TSA makes that possible.”

Anthony’s Take: More than three million people screened in a day is a lot of travelers. Let’s see if this new record holds or is broken again. Anecdotally, I flew on July 4th and the airport and lounges were quieter than I was expecting.
