Alaska Airlines has started to sell tickets for its new nonstop flights between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR). The airline will operate daily, year-round service beginning May 21st using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

This route will become Alaska’s fifth intercontinental destination from its rapidly growing global gateway at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Travelers can now book roundtrip fares starting as low as $699, which is a bargain for those planning summer travel to Europe. The announcement follows other recent additions including Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and Keflavík Airport (KEF) in Iceland.

London represents a strategically important market for Alaska Airlines. It is the largest corporate travel market from Seattle and flight schedules on the new route are designed to allow passengers to spend a full day in either city before departure. Alaska will operate from London Heathrow’s Terminal 3, which enables convenient onward connections across Europe and beyond through other oneworld® member airlines.

The expansion into London is supported by Alaska’s growing relationships within the oneworld® alliance (especially American Airlines and British Airways). As these partnerships deepen, travelers can expect greater connectivity, enhanced benefits, and improved access to key international destinations.

Passengers on the Boeing 787-9 will experience Alaska’s new curb-to-cabin international product. Business Class features 34 enclosed suites in a 1-2-1 configuration. These each offer a lie-flat seat, privacy doors, direct aisle access, 18-inch high-definition screens, wireless charging, personal power outlets, and noise-reducing headsets. Guests departing from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) can access the Alaska Lounge, while those traveling from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) Terminal 3 will have access to oneworld® lounges.

Alaska Chefs

Dining on board features multi-course meals in Business Class that can be pre-ordered. Alaska showcases West Coast flavors through its Chef’s Table program and partnerships with brands such as Salt and Straw, Straightaway Cocktails, and Stumptown Coffee. Filson bedding and amenity kits featuring products from Salt & Stone round out the amenities.

Premium Class and Main Cabin travelers will also benefit from upgraded amenities. Premium Class offers increased legroom, priority boarding, personal power outlets, and elevated meal service. Guests in both Premium Class and the Main Cabin will receive two chef-inspired meals during the flight, complimentary beer and wine, and access to seatback entertainment screens. Additional amenities include Filson blankets and Salt & Stone comfort kits.

Alaska Airlines’ new Atmos Rewards loyalty program adds further value to its intercontinental flights. Beginning in 2026, members will be able to choose how they earn rewards based on distance traveled, price paid, or segments flown. Atmos Titanium status holders will also receive complimentary day-of-departure upgrades to Business Class on intercontinental routes (subject to availability) without requiring certificates or points. That is unheard of everywhere else.

Looking ahead, Alaska plans to introduce onboard Wi-Fi powered by Starlink and supported by T-Mobile on its Boeing 787-9 fleet starting in fall 2026. The service will be free for Atmos Rewards members.

With the launch of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to/from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) service, Alaska Airlines will offer flights from Seattle to five intercontinental destinations across Europe and Asia, including London Heathrow Airport (LHR), Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO), Keflavík Airport (KEF), Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT), and Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN). By 2030, the airline plans to expand to at least 12 intercontinental destinations from Seattle. Alaska currently operates four Boeing 787-9 aircraft (with a fifth recently delivered).

Anthony’s Take: It’s pretty cool to watch Alaska grow and transform its operation into an international player. I can’t wait to see what the other seven intercontinental routes will be as Alaska builds up its map.
