The Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta was the hotel we stayed at many years ago on our first visit to Puerto Vallarta. Today, it announced that in May 2026, it will rebrand as The Westin Playa Vallarta, an All-Inclusive Resort and become the first-ever Westin all-inclusive property in Mexico.

This multi-million-dollar renovation promises guests a fully immersive oceanfront destination where they can “Step Into Life” and explore a vibrant array of wellness-driven, culturally rich, and culinary-focused experiences. The resort is located on 14 acres of lush tropical grounds near lively Marina Vallarta and just minutes from Puerto Vallarta’s Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR).

The resort will invite travelers to tailor their vacations through thoughtfully curated activities, including:

  • Expertly crafted culinary journeys focused on Mexican cuisine.
  • Wonder-filled adventures celebrating Puerto Vallarta’s rich natural surroundings.
  • Deeply enriching cultural encounters designed to connect guests with the region’s traditions.

Key highlights of the new resort include:

  • 281 reimagined suites, including 30 private plunge pool suites and 16 swim-up rooms.
  • 10 culinary and entertainment venues, including an open-air, botany-inspired cocktail lounge.
  • Vibrant social hubs for gathering and live entertainment.
  • Artisanal retail spaces celebrating local craftsmanship.
  • Completely refreshed pool areas.
  • Brand-new pickleball and padel courts.
  • The signature WestinWORKOUT® Fitness Studio.
  • Heavenly Spa by Westin®

The resort will feature both adults-only areas and family-friendly zones to satisfy all guests. The current Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta will continue welcoming guests through April 23rd. For stays before April 23rd, bookings can be made at the resort’s current website. For stays after May 1st, reservations can be made here. Rates for May 1st start at $361 if paying cash or 98,500 Marriott Bonvoy® points.

Hugo Lecanda, General Manager of Westin Puerto Vallarta, said:

We are thrilled to witness the next chapter in the evolution of our iconic resort in Playa Vallarta, an unparalleled all-inclusive destination awaiting customers beginning May 2026. Whether seeking a romantic escape, a corporate retreat or to unwind and reconnect with friends and family, our reimagined resort will continue to deliver the same award-winning service our guests know and love – enhanced by our exciting new all-inclusive offerings.”

Anthony’s Take: I prefer the quieter St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, but this property holds a nostalgic place in my memories. I’m not a fan of all-inclusive resorts, but I’m sure it will be popular.
