In October, I wrote about how IHG Hotels & Resorts® is ending its 15-year relationship with The Venetian Resort Las Vegas and its sister property The Palazzo this month. Today, Hyatt announced that it is entering into a long-term licensing agreement with the iconic Las Vegas properties.
The properties will soon be bookable through all of Hyatt’s channels, including Hyatt.com and the World of Hyatt® mobile app. Members will be able to earn and redeem points for stays at these hotels.
The Venetian’s suites are the largest on the Las Vegas Strip and the hotel recently underwent a $1.5 billion renovation. Guests can drift along the Grand Canal on a gondola and feel like they’re almost in Venice. The two hotels also offer award-winning dining from culinary legends like Wolfgang Puck, Thomas Keller, and Tetsuya Wakuda. I love many of the restaurants located here and have dined at TAO, CUT by Wolfgang Puck, Bazaar Meat by José Andrés, LAVO, and Yardbird many times.
The agreement also gives Hyatt access to the enormous amount of conference and meeting room space that the Venetian offers. The two hospitality companies will work together in the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) and convention space.
Mark Vondrasek, Chief Commercial Officer at Hyatt, said:
Las Vegas is a perennial favorite for World of Hyatt members and our group business customers are requesting rooms at a higher volume than pre-pandemic due to the world-class entertainment and unique experiences offered by this dynamic destination. The licensing agreement with The Venetian Resort Las Vegas adds 7,000 rooms and 2.25 million square feet of meeting space, inviting Hyatt’s loyalty members and valued customers to have even more options to earn and redeem loyalty points when visiting Las Vegas.”
Patrick Nichols, The Venetian Resort Las Vegas’ CEO, added:
Our legendary resort continues to lead the way on the Strip, setting the benchmark for innovation, luxury, and unforgettable guest experiences. From unveiling reimagined suites and collaborating with world-renowned chefs to delivering unparalleled entertainment, we have consistently stayed at the forefront of this ever-evolving destination. As we embrace a new era for The Venetian Resort, this relationship enables us to expand our reach and connect with new audiences.”
Hyatt recently brought the Rio Hotel & Casino into its portfolio under the Destination by Hyatt brand. I stayed earlier this year (review here) and found that there were some positives, but it’s location off the Strip is not great. The Venetian and Palazzo are excellent adds for Hyatt and much needed wins.
Anthony’s Take: Hyatt lost its agreement with MGM Resorts to Marriott last year. After IHG and the Venetian cut ties it was only a matter of when they picked up a new partner.
