Qantas passengers on flight QF59 between Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) and Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) got quite an eyeful when a technical issue forced every screen to play the same content. Passengers were asked to vote on what to watch and the sexually explicit film, Daddio, was chosen and every screen played the movie. Passengers said that screens could not be paused, dimmed, or turned off.

Complaints to Qantas around the racy film center around children being exposed to the movie as well as others who would otherwise opt out of watching a film filled with obscene “sexts” and full frontal nudity. It took almost an hour before crew switched to a more kid-friendly movie.
Dakota Johnson stars in Daddio as a young woman returning home to New York City. She ends up connecting with her taxi driver (played by Sean Penn) on a ride from the airport and the two have frank conversations about their past relationships, affairs, sex, and more.
A Qantas spokesperson released this statement:
The movie was clearly not suitable to play for the whole flight and we sincerely apologize to customers for this experience. All screens were changed to a family-friendly movie for the rest of the flight, which is our standard practice for the rare cases where individual movie selection isn’t possible. We are reviewing how the movie was selected.”
Anthony’s Take: I can imagine this being uncomfortable for parents with children on the flight. The images above are graphic and that coupled with nudity and sex scenes does not make for family friendly viewing.
