I have been flying a lot of United Airlines flights this year, but I am still Platinum Medallion on Delta Air Lines and decided to mix it up a bit today and take the nonstop flight from Tampa International Airport (TPA) to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). Lunch was served on my flight and I opted to try the Seared Salmon. Some people are suspect of fish on planes, but this meal (like the crab cakes I had on United) was really tasty.
This choice was a new one for me and I am so happy that I ordered it. This was one of the better meals that I have had with Delta recently as I was not a huge fan of the Margherita Pizza (review here) or the Beef Lasagna (review here). The Seared Salmon was served with a green salad and a packaged Bell’s Cookies Chocolate Chip Cookie. Delta does a good job with these salads, but the dessert needs to change. I loved the potatoes, peas, and broccolini served with the salmon. Everything was perfectly cooked and well seasoned.
There is nothing wrong with Bell’s Cookies, but they are so played out. They do not feel very luxe and should be replaced with a better dessert. United recently started serving Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding. Delta should look for a similar partnership (like it has for its recently announced Shake Shack burgers).
Anthony’s Take: I found the Seared Salmon to be a great choice and will order it again. Delta now just needs to get rid of the Bell’s Cookies.
