Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is redefining its inflight experience for premium passengers with the launch of an all-new service concept on long-haul flights. The meals are designed to rival top-tier restaurants in the new SWISS Business and SWISS First cabins and will bring elevated cuisine and curated Swiss brands to the skies.
Passengers in SWISS Business can now expect a new culinary journey and new amenities to be enjoyed throughout their flight. This includes:
- Swiss-Inspired Aperitif: After reaching cruising altitude, guests are welcomed with a classic Swiss aperitif. Traditional nuts are complemented by fresh additions such as olives and paired with a wide range of beverages (including the exclusive SWISS Alpine Essence signature cocktail).
- Restaurant-Style Meal Service: Passengers enjoy each course served individually. New highlights include a soup course, an expanded cheese selection, and added desserts.
- Sweet Finale: The meal concludes with pralines from Aeschbach Chocolatier.
- Enhanced Rest Experience: On flights exceeding 10 hours, passengers will receive luxury bedlinens, a Muntagnard sleepshirt, and an additional seat cover for maximum comfort.
- Stylish Amenity Kits: These were designed in collaboration with Swiss eyewear brand VIU and feature care products infused with the Alpine Valley signature scent (created exclusively for SWISS by Soeder).
- Entertainment Upgrades: New headphones provide better sound and an expanded selection of snacks and beverages is also available between meals.
SWISS First travelers will see even more luxurious and personalized service, including:
- Pre-Flight Indulgence: Passengers are welcomed on board with Confiserie Sprüngli’s iconic apéro flûtes and a beverage of their choice (including the SWISS Alpine Essence cocktail).
- Premium Tableware: Meals are served on modern porcelain with black accents.
- Even More Luxe Dining: Service begins with a plated amuse bouche trio and a cold delicatessen selection is then served directly at the passenger’s seat from a cart. Next, a seasonal sorbet offers a refreshing palate cleanser. Entree choices and a five-cheese course paired with a broad array of artisanal breads completes the main meal. The experience concludes with Sprüngli pralines and other signature Swiss sweets.
- Afternoon Tea Service: On select daytime flights, SWISS First will introduce an afternoon tea experience that features a curated tea selection with both sweet and savory delicacies.
- Luxury Comfort Items: Pajamas and slippers from Zimmerli of Switzerland, Sisley skincare products, and other premium items from Rohner and VIU will be available for First Class passengers.
The revamped services are part of SWISS Senses. I first wrote about changes that were being made to Economy and Premium Economy back in March. This ambitious program introduces state-of-the-art seating, ambient lighting that adapts to the time of day and design elements that reflect Swiss craftsmanship.
SWISS Chief Commercial Officer, Heike Birlenbach, said:
After introducing our remodeled SWISS Economy and SWISS Premium Economy service products in March, we are now taking the next consistent step, with the most comprehensive service renewal in the history of our company. Our new SWISS Business and SWISS First services are designed to provide all the ambience of a superior restaurant aloft, with greater choice, more individuality and an even firmer emphasis on Swiss hospitality. Our new premium inflight services make flying with SWISS much more than just transport. Because what we’re offering here is a genuinely memorable air travel experience. From our development of new tableware to our choice of new products and our adoption of new processes and procedures, everything has been carefully devised and comprehensively trialed. Our crews have been intensively prepared, too, to ensure that they are fully familiar and at home with our new service product. So what our guests on board will experience is the result of a truly massive undertaking on which our many teams throughout SWISS, both aloft and on the ground, have worked with all their passion and commitment.”
Anthony’s Take: SWISS’ upgraded premium service is set to deliver restaurant-quality dining, signature Swiss touches, and a sense of place while flying the airline. I hope to check it out in the near future.
