Sun Country Airlines is launching new service from Tulsa International Airport (TUL) next spring. Beginning May 21st, the airline will introduce nonstop flights to Cancún International Airport (CUN) and Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP), connecting Oklahoma travelers to two major destinations for leisure and business.
The new routes will operate 2x weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, providing convenient weekend options for vacationers heading to the beaches of Mexico or travelers flying north to the airline’s Minneapolis hub. With these additions, Sun Country will become the first airline to offer nonstop service from Tulsa International Airport (TUL) to either destination.
Tulsa International Airport (TUL) is located just 10 miles from downtown and continues to see growth in nonstop flight options. Sun Country’s announcement marks a significant enhancement in regional connectivity. The new Cancún International Airport (CUN) service gives travelers direct access to one of North America’s most popular resort destinations, while the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) route opens up easier connections across the airline’s growing network in the Midwest and beyond.

Coinciding with its Tulsa announcement, Sun Country also unveiled an extension of its booking schedule through September 8, 2026. Customers can now plan and book trips to more than 100 destinations across the US, Mexico, Central America, Canada, and the Caribbean.
The extended network includes both classic vacation favorites and off-the-beaten-path getaways. Popular routes such as Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC), Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) will return for summer 2026. More unique destinations like Traverse City’s Cherry Capital Airport (TVC), Glacier Park International Airport (FCA), and Missoula Montana Airport (MSO) provide new opportunities for adventure travelers.
Sun Country’s seasonal summer schedule will also feature flights to mountain and outdoor destinations such as Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), Boise Airport (BOI), Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN), Denver International Airport (DEN), and Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), as well as Canadian cities Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
By summer 2026, the airline will operate 115 routes across 100 airports to continue its mission to offer reliable, hassle-free service at low fares to leisure and value-conscious travelers.
Sun Country’s fleet is designed with passenger comfort in mind, offering state-of-the-art seats with full-size tray tables, comfortable recline, and in-seat power on most aircraft. Travelers can enjoy free in-flight entertainment streamed directly to their devices, along with complimentary beverages such as water, coffee, juice, and soda. Additional snacks and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase, with many selections sourced from Minnesota and Midwest-based companies to highlight regional partnerships.
Sun Country’s SVP and Chief Marketing Officer, Colton Snow, said:
Planning summer travel should be simple, rewarding and stress-free. With nonstop flights and extended dates through 2026, we’re making it easier than ever for travelers to get where they want to go.”
Anthony’s Take: I’ve never flown Sun Country, but have seen its planes all over Florida. The airline has added lots of new routes and I find it one of the more intriguing US carriers (mostly because I know little about it).

We just added Tulsa to Seattle and San Diego on Alaska (Horizon Air), so slowly adding nice flights to and from our tiny little town 🙂
