Sun Country Airlines is a low-cost carrier based in Minneapolis with focus cities in Dallas and Las Vegas. The airline flies to 94 destinations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. It already added 11 destinations to its network this year and is now adding three more.
All flights will operate from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP). These include:
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) (starts on March 17th, but the schedule is inconsistent through October)
- Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) (1-2x weekly; starts on August 22nd)
- Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) (2x weekly; starts on August 8th)
Grant Whitney, Sun Country Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer, said:
Minnesotans will be eager to visit New Hampshire for the American history it offers and the beautiful fall colors of New England. Sun Country and our Minneapolis-St. Paul community will warmly welcome visitors from New Hampshire to Minnesota, where you’ll experience great fall weather, scenic lakes throughout the city, outdoor activity, and a terrific entertainment and restaurant scene.”
The low-cost carrier is touting Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) as a notable addition. The airport is around 50 miles from Boston and Avelo Airlines just added service there last week (more here).
Anthony’s Take: It’s interesting to watch Sun Country grow. Delta is certainly watching what this small carrier is doing out of its fortress hub, MSP, and will take action with routes and frequencies as it sees fit.
