An American tourist at Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG) put on quite the spectacle for passengers already on the plane and waiting for pushback. The passenger missed his LATAM flight to Cartagena’s Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG) and instead of attempting to be rebooked, stormed past agents, ran down the jet bridge, and began kicking and punching the Airbus A320 while passengers looked on in a mix of amusement and horror.

Apparently, he arrived at the gate too late to board the flight, but did not accept his fate. He ran past the gate agents and began to take his anger out on the airplane’s door. He can be seen repeatedly kicking and punching the aircraft. This went on for three minutes (as I assume the gate agents called police). At one point, he even attempts to operate the jet bridge. How he thought this was going to get him on his flight is beyond me. Live and Let’s Fly reports that he was taken into custody by police and attacked an officer during that time. He is extremely fortunate that he did not land in a Colombian prison, but was instead deported back to the United States two hours later.
Anthony’s Take: This is the worst way to handle this situation and this passenger lucked out in not landing in more legal trouble. Kicking and punching an aircraft is not going to get you flying, but it will make for a great video to share on social media.

Ha! wow i just wrote an article about missed flight connection on wingtips.
I saw that. This is what not to do 🙂
A pity that he didn’t get to enjoy the hospitality of Colombia’s jails for a few months. If there are more repercussions then people will do fewer stupid things.
Where was security? How was he able to even GET that far and sit there kicking and punching the plane? I know it’s stale to bring up terrorism and 9/11, but that wasn’t five seconds and then security arrested him. He had plenty of time to do something bad if he wanted to.
Ridiculous “Ugly American” entitled behavior. No wonder we are so beloved when we travel internationally.
Too bad his violation didn’t land him in a Colombian jail.
Why didn’t airport security arrest this clown? They should have grabbed him as soon as he ran down the jetway. That is scary that there is such poor security at that airport.
