St. Regis is my favorite of Marriott’s many brands. I have enjoyed stays in New York, Washington DC, Bal Harbour, San Francisco, Chicago, Singapore, Venice, Atlanta, and few others. Today, Marriott announced the opening of the 60th location in Shanghai.

The St. Regis on the Bund, Shanghai is the second location in Shanghai and the 14th in China (including Hong Kong). The hotel sits along the Shanghai’s waterfront known as the Bund. It offers views of the Huangpu River and the Pudong skyline with easy access to Shanghai’s most visited landmarks like the Yu Garden, Nanjing Road Walkway, Oriental Pearl Tower, and Shanghai Museum.

The hotel offers 192 guest rooms (including 13 suites) ranging from approximately 1,270 to 3,100 square feet. The residential-style accommodations include Shanghai-inspired design elements and the signature St. Regis Butler Service.

Four food and beverage outlets are located within the hotel. These include Celestial Court (the hotel’s exclusive Chinese restaurant), the St. Regis Brasserie (an all-day dining option that offers breakfast with local Chinese and international flavors as well as lunch and dinner featuring Western grills and fresh seafood), the St. Regis Bar (where guests can enjoy the brand’s famous St. Regis Bloody Mary, and “The Bund Snapper,” which artfully blends Shanghai’s five spices with Zaolu, the traditional Shanghai rice wine vinegar, and balanced by the subtle aroma of osmanthus, creating a unique flavor that embodies the city’s essence. Finally, the Drawing Room (which is sscheduled to open by the end of the year), will offer light meals and refreshments and host signature traditions of the St. Regis, including Afternoon Tea and a nightly evening ritual Champagne Sabrage.

Amenities include the St. Regis Spa with expansive facilities and three luxurious private spaces, a fitness center with complimentary 24-hour access, and around 12,000 square feet of event space including the Astor Ballroom and three function rooms.

Bart Buiring, Managing Director, Luxury, Greater China at Marriott International, said:

We are thrilled to continue the storied legacy of St. Regis with the debut of The St. Regis on the Bund, Shanghai, the thirteenth address in our expanding portfolio of St. Regis hotels in Greater China. The Bund is a blend of Shanghai’s rich history and dynamic modernization, where the cluster of historical buildings juxtaposes the modern skyline of Pudong. From this iconic location, the hotel sets to embody the timeless elegance and impeccable service inspired by the Astor family, offering an unparalleled experience to both our loyal guests and the next generation of luxury travelers.”

Anthony’s Take: I love the St. Regis brand and am happy to see it continue to expand. I’m looking forward to checking out the new St. Regis Longboat Key this winter and hope to check out some of the other locations next year.

1270sqft for the base rooms is very luxurious and generous considering the location!
