Spirit Further Slashes Route Map With 18 More Cuts

A few days ago, I wrote about how Spirit Airlines was cutting 14 routes with Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), Orlando International Airport (MCO), and Portland International Airport (PDX) seeing the most cuts. Those routes were only part of the overall trimming and 18 more routes have now been removed from the schedule.

Aircraft deliveries are delayed and Spirit is having to juggle and work with what it has to serve its flights. Other routes getting the axe include:

  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from Charleston International Airport (CHS) (ends on October 8th)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) (ends on December 3rd)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) (ends on October 7th)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from Kansas City International Airport (MCI) (ends on November 4th)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from Nashville International Airport (BNA) (ends on November 4th)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from Norfolk International Airport (ORF) (ends on November 4th)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) (ends on October 7th)
  • Charleston International Airport (CHS) to/from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) (already done)
  • Charleston International Airport (CHS) to/from New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) (ends on December 3rd)
  • Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) to/from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) (ends on October 7th)
  • Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to/from Memphis International Airport (MEM) (ends on October 8th)
  • Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to/from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) (ends on November 5th)
  • Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to/from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) (already done)
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to/from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) (already done)
  • Nashville International Airport (BNA) to/from Miami International Airport (MIA) (ends on October 7th)
  • Nashville International Airport (BNA) to/from New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) (ends on November 6th)
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to/from John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) (already done)
  • Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) to/from New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) (ends on November 6th)

Anthony’s Take: Spirit has been undergoing lots of changes. From its seat bundles and more premium offerings to all of these route adjustments. I enjoy flying Spirit and look forward to seeing what’s next and if any of these routes come back in the future.
