Today, Spirit announced the top redemptions this summer revealed with points redeemed by members for June 1st through August 31st travel. Free Spirit® members chose places that aren’t too surprising across the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. It’s great that Spirit’s program allows for so many redemptions.
Spirit Airlines recently revamped its Free Spirit® loyalty program. It now allows members to redeem points for flights in any of its seating options. I’m happy that I can now redeem points for Big Front Seats™ as I have a hefty six-figure point balance in my account. This was one of my biggest gripes with Spirit’s loyalty program previously. Passengers can now redeem for all four travel options including Go Big and Go Comfy using Free Spirit points (excluding taxes and fees). Spirit says that it plans to add even more redemptions in the coming months, including personalized experiences and elevated perks. There are no further details as to what this includes.
Top US Summer Redemptions
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
- Orlando International Airport (MCO)
- Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
Top LATin America and Caribbean Redemptions
- Cancún International Airport (CUN)
- San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU)
- Medellin’s José María Córdova International Airport (MDE)
Rana Ghosh, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Spirit Airlines, said:
Nothing says summer like taking a vacation, and our savvy Guests know the best way to make those PTO plans is by redeeming flights to beautiful destinations with their Free Spirit® points. We just launched our expanded redemption options, making it easier for Free Spirit® members to redeem their points for a premium experience, including our new, extra-legroom seating option.”
Redemptions look to be around one cent per point. I’ll be using some of my points to travel between Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) this summer.
Anthony’s Take: The latest changes to the Free Spirit® loyalty program make it competitive and the ability to redeem for Big Front Seats™ is a game changer for me. I’m excited to put my points to use.
