Spirit Airlines updated its schedule with a huge list of new and returning flights coming to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). The additions include 15 cities that Spirit will begin flying over the next few months. This is certain to anger Delta Air Lines as Spirit pushes further into one of its largest hubs.
This will bring Spirit to nearly 40 nonstop destinations from DTW, with nearly half set to begin/resume in the coming months. pic.twitter.com/Ju5I7pyV69

With these additions, Spirit Airlines will serve around 40 nonstop destinations from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW). This is great news for travelers and should make Delta take notice as it currently operates all 15 of the new and returning routes.
John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit, said:
We’re adding even more popular travel options to our Detroit route map, giving our DTW Guests a variety of new destinations to discover across the country and beyond. Savvy Motor City travelers will soon enjoy even more options to enjoy Spirit’s elevated experience at a value unmatched by other carriers.”
Anthony’s Take: I love when Spirit and other low-cost carriers enter one of the legacy airlines’ hubs with added routes and frequencies. This often leads to price pressure, which drops the fares at the legacy carriers. We’ll see what impact Spirit has in Detroit with Delta.
