Last month, I wrote about Spirit Airlines introducing bundled fares, priority-check-in, a new boarding process, and more. These new fare bundles are starting to go live and travelers can book them now. Go Comfy and Go Big experiences will begin on August 27th.

Spirit Bundles

Bundled Fares

Spirit has introduce four fare bundles. These offer everything from BIG FRONT SEATS® to checked bags and unlimited snacks and beverages. Here is the breakdown:

  • Go Big: Includes a Big Front Seat™, one checked, one carry-on bag, priority check-in and boarding, snacks and drinks including alcoholic beverages, and streaming Wi-Fi.
  • Go Comfy: Includes an aisle or window seat with no one in the middle, one checked, one carry-on bag, priority boarding, a small snack, and non-alcoholic beverage.
  • Go Savvy: Includes standard seat selection and a choice of one checked or carry-on bag.
  • Go: Standard seat selection, a checked bag, and other options can be purchased separately.

Spirit will essentially be offering domestic First Class with Go Big and European Business Class with Go Comfy. This is pretty cool and I can’t wait to check out the pricing on the Go Big bundles.

Spirit Priority Check-In

Priority Check-In

On August 27th, Spirit Airlines will introduce priority check-in for Go Big passengers, Free Spirit Gold members, and Free Spirit World Elite Mastercard holders.

This will be available at the following airports:

  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
  • Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • Cancún International Airport (CUN)
  • Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT)
  • Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
  • Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW)
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
  • Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
  • Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • Miami International Airport (MIA)
  • Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR)
  • Nashville International Airport (BNA)
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
  • Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY)
  • New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO)
  • San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC)
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA)

Spirit Go Big Snacks

As a Free Spirit Gold member, I receive a non-alcoholic drink and snack (ginger ale and Peanut M&Ms for me). Once I can start booking Go Big fares, I’ll get unlimited snacks and drinks like I would flying First Class on other carriers in the United States.

Spirit More Fly

New Boarding Process

Spirit will also introduce a new boarding process on August 27th. There will be five groups. Priority boarding will be offered to those with Go Big or Go Comfy packages, Free Spirit Gold and Silver members, those with the Free Spirit World Elite Mastercard, and active-duty US military.

Ted Christie, Spirit’s President and Chief Executive Officer, said:

We’re unveiling a new era in Spirit’s history and taking low-fare travel to new heights with enhanced options that are unlike anything we’ve offered before. We listened to our Guests and are excited to deliver what they want: choices for an elevated experience that are affordable and provide unparalleled value.”

Anthony’s Take: I’ve been a Free Spirit Gold member for some time. I’ll be curious to see how the pricing is as I usually buy a Big Front Seat™ and don’t check bags. It’s great to see Spirit evolving with the times and I can’t wait to see how these price out.

My initial view on it, now seeing it in practice, as a former NK management member and now Gold frequent flyer…. I don’t like it. $500 round trip to fly Big Front Seat CLT-Florida? I am glad I went yesterday and bought BFS on all my upcoming reservations because I probably saved $1500 total for the rest of the year.

Appears that you cannot a la carte buy the extra room or Big Front Seats with the lower fares. Hate to say it, but have lost a ton of value from Spirit.

Wow. I’ll need to check that out. I am Gold with Spirit and am hoping that they add some new benefits (maybe upgrade certificates). I’m currently in Albania and Spirit is blocking me from accessing the site.
