Spirit Airlines is adding a new checked baggage benefit to its Free Spirit Travel More Mastercard®. Starting today, primary cardholders can enjoy up to two free checked bags on every Spirit flight booked with their eligible card. This is one of the most valuable perks offered in the airline’s loyalty program to date.

To take advantage of the two free checked bags, cardholders must:

  • Book directly through spirit.com or the Spirit mobile app using their eligible Free Spirit Travel More Mastercard®.
  • Check bags that weigh up to 50 pounds each and meet Spirit’s standard baggage requirements.
  • This benefit also covers specialty items such as golf clubs, skis, and snowboards (provided they fall within Spirit’s standard checked baggage rules).

Rana Ghosh, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Spirit Airlines, said:

Our most loyal Guests know they get the greatest value when they choose Spirit, and now the Free Spirit Travel More Mastercard makes flying with us even more rewarding. With two free checked bags, primary cardholders can enjoy more of what they love, including excellent value, great perks and an elevated travel experience.”

The addition of free checked bags builds on recent enhancements to the Free Spirit loyalty program and the Free Spirit Travel More Mastercard, which now offers a comprehensive suite of travel benefits, including:

  • Priority Check-In access (where available)
  • Priority Boarding
  • Complimentary space-available upgrades to Premium Economy and Spirit First
  • 25% rebate on inflight food and beverage purchases made with the card
  • Up to two free checked bags on every eligible flight

These perks are designed to make every step of the journey more seamless and cost-effective. They also align Spirit with the legacy carriers in ways that would have been unheard of a short time ago.

Anthony’s Take: Spirit has been pushing to redefine itself. This is another customer-friendly move and one that should make Spirit loyalists happy.
