New year, new routes. Spirit Airlines is adding six new lines to its route map and bringing back three past ones. These will all begin in March.
NEW: Spirit Airlines will add several new routes:
• San Antonio (SAT) to San Juan (SJU)
• Baltimore (BWI) to Punta Cana (PUJ)
• Louisville (SDF) to Myrtle Beach (MYR)
• Detroit (DTW) to Pensacola (PNS)
• Chicago (ORD) to Pensacola (PNS)

New Routes
The following routes are new for Spirit Airlines:
- Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) to/from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) (2x weekly; starts on March 20th)
- Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to/from Pensacola International Airport (PNS) (3x weekly; starts on March 20th)
- Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) to/from Pensacola International Airport (PNS) (3x weekly; starts on March 22nd)
- Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to/from Nashville International Airport (BNA) (up to 3x weekly; starts on March 5th)
- Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) to/from Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) (4x weekly; starts on March 19th)
- San Antonio International Airport (SAT) to/from San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU) (2x weekly; starts on March 5th)
Southwest currently flies between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) and Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), Delta offers flights between Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and Pensacola International Airport (PNS), and United flies from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Pensacola International Airport (PNS) as well as between Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Nashville International Airport (BNA).
Returning Routes
These three routes are returning to Spirit’s map:
- Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) to/from Tampa International Airport (TPA) (1x weekly; starts on March 19th)
- Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) to/from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) (up to 3x weekly; starts on March 20th)
- Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) to/from Orlando International Airport (MCO) (up to 4x weekly; starts on March 19th)
Southwest flies between Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) and Tampa International Airport (TPA) as well as Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) and Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). Both Delta and Sun Country offer flights between Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) and Orlando International Airport (MCO).
Anthony’s Take: I’m not sure I’ll be flying to Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) anytime soon, but I’m always excited for more flights out of Tampa International Airport (TPA).
