Southwest Airlines announced a new partnership with Condor today. The German carrier is known for serving nearly 70 destinations across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas from its Frankfurt Airport (FRA) hub. The collaboration strengthens transatlantic travel options and opens streamlined pathways for passengers traveling between the two airlines.
Under the new arrangement, Southwest will provide domestic US service for Condor passengers and enable same-ticket itineraries that link both airlines’ schedules. Connections will be available at key US gateways including Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Portland International Airport (PDX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Travelers will be able to seamlessly transition between Condor’s long-haul routes and Southwest’s domestic network to create a more integrated travel experience.
The enhanced transatlantic options are set to begin on January 19th. Customers can already book these itineraries through Condor, travel agencies, and other travel websites.

With this development, Southwest now partners with five overseas airlines (others include Icelandair, China Airlines, EVA Air, Philippine Airlines). These partnerships extend its reach to destinations across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The airline continues to broaden its international access and more partners will likely be signed in the future.
In addition to expanding global connections, Southwest is advancing efforts to refine the passenger experience. The carrier is preparing to introduce a redesigned cabin and new seating options, including assigned seating and extra legroom selections on flights beginning January 27th. These enhancements are part of Southwest’s broader strategy to offer more choice and elevate the overall quality of air travel for its customers.
Andrew Watterson, Southwest Airlines Chief Operating Officer, said:
Adding Condor to our portfolio of partners brings transatlantic journeys between dozens of airports in the US and exciting and aspirational places Condor serves. In Las Vegas alone, we can connect international travelers with the power of our network, offering them more than 270 departures a day and nonstop flights to more than 70 cities. Our airline partnerships showcase the warmth of our People, our operational reliability, and the increasing choice in travel experiences that Southwest now can offer to potential Customers around the world.”
Mikko Turtiainen, Condor Director Sales, the Americas, added:
With the expansion of Condor’s partner network in North America, travelers benefit from a wider range of seamless and convenient travel options. The collaboration with Southwest Airlines enhances Condor’s transatlantic connectivity and provides our customers with an extended route network.”
Anthony’s Take: Southwest’s collaboration with Condor marks another step forward in building a more connected and flexible travel network. While the arrangements are not the same as being in an airline alliance, they do give Southwest passengers the convenience of single tickets and access to many more international destinations.
