American Airlines has been trying to find ways to position itself as a more premium carrier. It trails Delta and United in both passenger perception and earnings. Last week, I wrote about some of the new foods that American is bringing to its Admirals Clubs. Today, the Dallas-based carrier announced that it is adding some new spirits to the bars in its lounges.

American currently offers more than 40 spirits in its lounges. It will soon add Horse Soldier Bourbon Whiskey and Still G.I.N., By Dre and Snoop across its network.

Still GIN

Still G.I.N. By Dre and Snoop is described as “a modern, defiantly smooth clean light gin…[with] notes of tangerine, jasmine, and coriander.” Rap icons Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg launched the brand in 2024.

Horse Soldier Bourbon

Bourbon enthusiasts will be pleased to see Horse Soldier Bourbon Whiskey. The spirit is crafted to be smooth. It’s described as being “made from small batches of bourbon and non-chill filtered to provide a full-bodied and decadent finish.”

Guests in American’s Admirals Club® lounges were served more than 420,000 glasses of complimentary sparkling wine last year. This spring, American is adding Casamigos Añejo Tequila, Tequila Ocho Reposado, Kahlua, St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur, and the two spirits above. Additional options include Carolan’s Irish Cream and Fever-Tree’s Espresso Martini Mix.

Anthony’s Take: Delta currently leads the pack when it comes to lounges. United is markedly improved, but still has some work to do with its food and beverage offerings. American has long trailed both airlines and it’s good to see it trying to improve.
