Overnight, there was a shooting at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). The incident occurred around 1:00 AM outside baggage claim in Terminal 2 (home to Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, and United Airlines). Two men apparently had a confrontation that left one shot twice.

Local police responded to a call about multiple people fighting last night. They found a 25-year-old man who was shot twice in his lower body. He is currently in stable condition at Lutheran General Hospital. Police are questioning another person around the incident, but no motive or charges have been filed yet. Witnesses report that there were dozens of shell casings on the ground outside of Terminal 2. A stray bullet hit the window near Door 2C.

A second man was reportedly badly beaten during the altercation and also taken to the local hospital. A hotel shuttle bus was also struck with two bullets. CWB Chicago reports that “the gunman retrieved the weapon from a car, opened fire, and then returned to the vehicle.” No other details have been released as this investigation is ongoing.
Anthony’s Take: This is so scary. Thankfully, the man who was shot and the other who was beaten are in stable condition. No one else was injured and hopefully the police are able to make an arrest. There are tons of cameras all around the exterior of the airport and I’d assume that they would have to pick up this activity.
